A surgeon by the name of Maxwell Maltz, author of a book called “Psycho-Cybernetics” that sold over 30 million copies, was a surgeon back in the early to mid-1900s, when he would perform limb amputations (surgeries) on solders during the war he would notice that it took about 21 to 90 days for the individual who had their limb amputated to get used to not having it.
